The Leicestershire & Rutland Cricket Foundation (L&RCF) is committed to developing coaches at every level of the game. We deliver England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) coach education courses locally, providing opportunities for individuals to gain qualifications, enhance their skills, and support the growth of cricket in our communities.

Whether you’re starting your coaching journey or looking to progress to advanced levels, we have a pathway for you.

Why Become a Cricket Coach?

  • Play a vital role in making cricket inclusive and enjoyable.

Courses

  • ECB Support Coach – Introduces individuals to coaching, focusing on how to support a qualified coach during sessions. Includes e-learning and a face-to-face module. Pre-requisites: Valid safeguarding training and an ECB DBS check.
  • ECB Foundation Coach – An entry-level qualification for those aged 17+ who want to lead their own sessions. Includes e-learning and face-to-face modules. Pre-requisites: Must be 18 on course start date. Requires safeguarding training and an ECB DBS check.
  • ECB Core Coach – A more advanced qualification for coaches who want to lead player-centred sessions independently. Essential for those progressing further in the coaching pathway. Pre-requisites:Completion of ECB Foundation Coach. Courses run locally—check with L&RCF for dates.
  • ECB Advanced Coach & Specialist Coach – Higher-level qualifications aimed at developing coaches for talent pathways, performance environments, and specialist areas. Pre-requisites: Visit the ECB website for full details and availability.
