Bringing Visually Impaired Cricket to Leicestershire & Rutland
The Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket Foundation is proud to champion inclusivity by delivering Visually Impaired (VI) cricket across our communities. VI cricket is a specially adapted version of the game designed to ensure that people with sight loss can enjoy all the excitement, teamwork, and social benefits that cricket offers.
What is VI Cricket?
- VI cricket uses a larger, audible ball filled with ball bearings so players can track it by sound. The game is played with modified rules to make it accessible and competitive for individuals with varying levels of visual impairment. It’s fast-paced, fun, and provides a fantastic opportunity for everyone to get involved.
Why It Matters
- Sport should be for everyone. By delivering VI cricket, we aim to:
- Break down barriers to participation.
- Promote physical activity and mental wellbeing.
- Create a welcoming environment where visually impaired players can thrive.
Our Commitment
- We work closely with local partners, volunteers, and national bodies to provide coaching, equipment, and safe spaces for VI cricket. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player, there’s a place for you in our growing VI cricket community.
