Bring the joy of cricket to your school with the Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket Foundation and Chance to Shine.
Our Whole School Programme is completely free of charge and includes:
Play: Up to four classes will receive six hours of coaching delivered by our expert coaches during curriculum time.
Teach: Teachers receive two hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to build their confidence in delivering cricket, ensuring the programme’s legacy within your school.
Inspire: We will run a “Spirit of Cricket” assembly or celebration event for the whole school.
Engagement Day: A free taster day is also available, including coaching sessions and a whole-school assembly.
Requirements for Schools
To access this funded provision, your school will need to meet the following criteria:
Eligibility: The L&RCF, in partnership with Chance to Shine, prioritises schools in areas of deprivation and those with low levels of physical activity.
Commitment: The school must be willing to embrace cricket, with a teacher championing the programme and ensuring the opportunity is offered to as many pupils as possible.
Capacity: The school will need to demonstrate that it has pupils who would benefit from the programme. This includes a higher-than-average proportion of pupils eligible for free school meals (for the primary programme) or a focus on schools where cricket has a limited footprint (for the secondary programme).
Sustainability: After the coached sessions finish, the school is encouraged to continue the programme independently using the resources provided.
